The Big Trip… Part 2
The Big Trip – Paris Day Trip Pt. 2
Day trips have long been a huge part of my vacation strategy.
Go to Toronto, hit up Niagara Falls for the day. Go to London, catch a short train ride to Paris for the day. Visit anywhere in Italy or San Francisco, CA, winery day trip must! Why not? Train tickets to Paris from London are very reasonable if you take standard coach. It’s not even very unreasonable if you do like me and upgrade to first class. More space, full meals, and I actually slept a bit.
We broke our 9 days into a little bit of everything as I mentioned in Part 1, but on day 3 we visited the Lourve in Paris! Yes, you go through the same level of security taking the train as you would taking a flight, but less of a line and more time to enjoy yourself.
We took a 9am train and arrived around 11am, first thing I saw and smelled were pastries, but in the massive Gare du Nord station I couldn’t find it. (Sad times of a pastry queen pt1)
After arriving and grabbing our taxi, we headed straight for my main reason for the day trip, the gorgeous, stunning, labyrinth like complex.
Inside, every sculpture, painting, clay, stonework, golden, over piece of art you can imagine from hundreds of different countries and thousands of different cultures. You would need 24 straight hours to really embrace it all.
We had about 3 hours and made the most of them. The Lourve, Eiffel Tower, and everything else we could fit in!
As we were finally leaving, I looked back at all the beauty and felt somewhat accomplished. Seeking knowledge and engaging beautifully created works gives me so much life!
Next I wanted to be a tourist and see the sites, Eiffel Tower and Champs de Elysse, etc. Long story short Big Bus and City SightSeeing are the best options for quick hop on hop off services. The open air bus tour was great with English guided automated sightseeing with headphones and a competent driver.
