Our Story
As love stories go, well they have only a little to do with travel. Some people travel to find love. Others travel to escape love lost. I’ve traveled for both reasons at one point in life.
In about a month I marry my best friend and life partner. Below is our story.
How God intervened
I asked God for clarity. He provided it.
I asked God for endurance and wisdom. He provided it.
I asked God back in 1999 for a good man, he said, “Wait, I got better than good. I got forever, but not yet.” I was impatient.
I asked God again, back in 2005, for a partner who would be straight up with me, support me, and love me.
God said, “I already sent him, he’s the homie you been laughing with. He’s the one who remembers not just your birthday. but your friends birthdays. He’s the one who will love you for life. Are you ready?”
*(Note: we were not ready.)
Fast forward…
“God, so me and this guy have crazy chemistry after all these years. Love each other. Got some *crazy* baggage, but we’ve worked through it and come out stronger. Is he the one?”
God: The one?! He’s been the only viable candidate since you were born. He was born two days before you. The two of you have so much in common and so much love for each other. I mean, he bought the two of you a house with the porch you said you needed years ago. He wants to make you happy above all else. And you have the nerve to ask me this?! What will it take for you to believe he’s your forever?
Me: A ring. A promise. A ceremony.
God: Ok done.
That’s how I see it. That’s how it was for me. We have been through the fire and back, but he’s the one I would take on an army for. He’s my favorite travel partner and my unwitting accomplice in random mischief.
Hopefully we finish off the rest of that travel list and make even more memories as husband and wife.
